On Friday, The Horizon Huskies faced the Higley Knights in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Horizon was the clear victor by a 28-6 margin over Higley. The result was nothing new for Horizon, who have now won five matches by 22 points or more so far this season.
Horizon can attribute much of their success to Anthony Segura, who rushed for 118 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries. Bodie Zamorano also helped out as he racked up 125 rushing yards.
Horizon's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Segura and his two sacks.
Despite the loss, Higley still got an impressive performance from Daxen Hall, who rushed for 148 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.0 yards per carry. Hall is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last seven games he's played.
The victory makes it two in a row for Horizon and bumps their season record up to 6-2. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 20 points. As for Higley, their loss ended a eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-2.
Horizon will take on Cactus Shadows at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cactus Shadows is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Higley, they will head out on the road to face off against Desert Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Desert Mountain will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
