Fivay and Mitchell are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2014, but not for long. The Fivay Falcons will head out on the road to face off against the Mitchell Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Fivay focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday.
Last Friday, Fivay earned a 41-34 victory over Berkeley Prep. The win made it back-to-back wins for Fivay.
Fivay's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jordana Montaner Rodgers, who scored 12 points along with 6 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Montaner Rodgers has scored at least 25% of Fivay's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Naimah Mota, who scored 7 points along with 8 rebounds.
Meanwhile, winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 18 more assists than your opponent, a fact Mitchell proved on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Tarpon Springs 78-23 on the road. With Mitchell ahead 52-9 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Mitchell got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kaylana Little out in front who scored 18 points along with 7 steals and 5 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Priya Jacob, who scored 14 points along with 9 rebounds and 5 steals.
Fivay's win bumped their season record to 2-0 while Berkeley Prep's loss dropped theirs to 0-3.
Fivay was taken down by Mitchell 59-20 in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Thankfully for Fivay, Julia Rueda (who scored 27 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
