The Polson Pirates will head out on the road to challenge the Whitefish Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Polson will be strutting in after a win while Whitefish will be coming in after a loss.
Last Saturday, Polson slipped by Ronan 37-36.
Polson found their leader in underclassman Rylee Taylor-jefferson, who scored 12 points along with three steals. Taylor-jefferson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ahrianna Rushing, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, it's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Whitefish can now relate to. They had to suffer through a rough 71-22 loss at the hands of the Vikings & Valkyries. Having soared to a lofty 61 points in the game before, Whitefish couldn't push the score so high this time.
Polson's win bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Whitefish, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.
Polson didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Whitefish when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 45-41 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Polson since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
