The biggest upset of the week belonged to Boyd, who took down 630th ranked Bowie, 42-34. Fino Cardona ran for 222 yards and caught 3 passes for 38 yards in the win.
The Yellowjackets scaled the state rankings by moving to 737 from 877 this week, the biggest jump in 2A-1 Region II District 5. Boyd was able to move up by defeating the Jackrabbits 42-34.
Brandon hopkins' team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Clay Barnett threw for 136 and 2 touchdowns and Joseph Tate had 40 yards receiving. On the ground Cardona chipped in 222 yards. Cardona helped Boyd's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 38 yards.
Cardona provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Yellowjackets beat Bowie. Cardona's favorite target this week was Tate, who caught 3 passes for 40 yards.
Cardona was a force in the backfield as Boyd defeated the Jackrabbits.
Tate was the best wideout in the league this week as the Yellowjackets beat Bowie.
Thanks to the talents of Barnett and Cardona, Boyd has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Barnett is tops in the league in passing with 526 yards, while Cardona has rushed for 782 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is Whitesboro's Cody Ford, with 240 yards on 10 catches.
At the moment, the Bearcats are in first, while Paradise is in seventh.
Whitesboro took down Ponder 49-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
