The Miller Place Panthers lost against the Islip Buccaneers back in January of 2017, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Miller Place lost to Islip at home by a decisive 53-35 margin. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Miller Place in their matchups with Islip: they've now lost three in a row.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ava Zicchinelli, who scored 13 points. That was a full 37.1% of Miller Place's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Brooke Callaghan was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Miller Place has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Islip, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 1-1.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Kings Park the next time they take the court. Miller Place will host Kings Park at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, while Islip will host them at 4:45 p.m. on February 6th.
