2A-1 Region II District 6 recap September 4, 2013
Fans got a thrill when Ryan Cottingame and Abdul Khalaf connected against Grand Saline. The connection was good for 55 yards, the longest such play in 2A-1 Region II District 6 this season.
Van Alstyne's ALEX PHILLIPS recorded the longest rushing play in the league this season in his game against Holliday last week. PHILLIPS ran for 79 yards on the play and finished with 150 on the day as his team beat the Eagles.
PHILLIPS was the most successful running back in the league this week. TERRY LAWRENCE also contributed to the rushing game with 150 yards on the ground.
Kory Waller was the best wideout in 2A-1 Region II District 6 this week as Pottsboro beat Aubrey. Waller tallied 7 receptions for 149 yards. Jacob Tol helped Pottsboro's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 25 yards.
Cottingame threw for 284 yards and 6 touchdowns. He was 10-16 with 0 interceptions.
Cottingame put up the best numbers through the air as Sunnyvale topped the Indians. Cottingame's favorite target this week was Josh Quinn, who caught 3 passes for 98 yards.
