John Champe has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Tuscarora Huskies at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. John Champe knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Tuscarora likes a good challenge.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only John Champe walked away with it. They walked away with a 35-28 victory over the Vikings on Friday. John Champe's win was all the more impressive since Loudoun Valley was averaging only 17.83 points allowed on the season.
John Champe's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dominic Plush, who threw for 301 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.5 yards per attempt. Greg Spiller was another key contributor, gaining 170 total yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Tuscarora put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Loudoun County by a score of 28-16. The score was all tied up 7-7 at the break, but Tuscarora was the (much) better team in the second half.
John Champe's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.2 points per game. As for Tuscarora, their win bumped their record up to 11-0.
John Champe came up short against Tuscarora in their previous meeting back in September of 2021, falling 36-30. Thankfully for John Champe, Bryce Duke (who rushed for 305 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry, and also picked up 52 receiving yards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
