The Early County Bobcats were the 73-69 winner over the Dougherty Trojans when they last played one another back in November of 2018, but their luck changed this time around. Early County took a 52-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dougherty on Monday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Early County has scored all season.
Early County's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jabril Lindsey, who scored ten points along with two blocks, and Nathaniel Tinson who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Charles Williams, who scored four points along with six rebounds.
Jeremiah Kitchen was the offensive standout of the contest as he scored 17 points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Jawuan Jinks jr, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Early County's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Dougherty, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Early County won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Randolph-Clay at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Hopefully Randolph-Clay focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Saturday. Dougherty will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Thomasville at 8:00 p.m. on January 19th. Thomasville is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
