Manzanola has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Primero Bulldogs at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Primero took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Manzanola, who comes in off a win.
After a 73-40 finish the last time they played, Manzanola and Colorado School for the Deaf Blind decided to play a little more cautiously this time around. Manzanola took down Colorado School for the Deaf Blind 34-17 on Monday. That 17 points margin sets a new team best for Manzanola this season.
Manzanola's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Canye Trujillo led the charge by scoring ten points along with eight steals and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jullian Chavez, who scored nine points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, Primero pushed their score all the way to 55 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. The matchup between Primero and Walsh wasn't particularly close, with Primero falling 71-55. It was the first time this season that Primero let down their fans at home.
Manzanola's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 1-6. As for Primero, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.
Manzanola came up short against Primero in their previous matchup back in February of 2022, falling 43-36. Thankfully for Manzanola, Michael Damelio (who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 36 points and 0 assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
