The West Union Dragons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their sixth straight loss. They were beaten by Fayetteville-Perry 62-29. While losing is never fun, West Union can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 657th, while Fayetteville-Perry is ranked 233rd).
Despite the loss, West Union saw an underclassman step up: Annabelle Mcintosh scored ten points.
West Union struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They are 1-3 when they just don't pass the ball.
Ryley Kleemeyer was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds for Fayetteville-Perry. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Barber, who scored seven points along with three steals.
West Union has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Fayetteville-Perry, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-5.
West Union will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Peebles at 7:30 p.m. Peebles is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road. As for Fayetteville-Perry, they will challenge Eastern at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
