The Panther Creek Catamounts stacked a tenth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 84-45 win over Apex. Given Panther Creek's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while the Cougars are ranked 395th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Panther Creek's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zy'vaun Puckett led the charge by scoring 14 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Logan Ware, who scored 17 points.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ethan Balos, who scored 12 points along with five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Zaelyn White, who scored nine points along with six assists and three steals.
Panther Creek has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for Apex, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-14.
Panther Creek will face off against the Falcons at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Green Hope is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Apex, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Apex Friendship is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
