Wasatch hasn't had much luck against Springville recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Wasatch will head out on the road to challenge Springville at 3:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Wasatch's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over Lone Peak. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Wasps considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Peyton Sandlund and Sydnee McPhie did most of the damage at the plate: Sandlund scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances, while McPhie scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. Brylee Smith also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Wasatch kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lone Peak didn't got any hits.
Meanwhile, Springville entered their tilt with Cedar on Saturday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Reds.
Allyx Haveron made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed six innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Morgan Fairbourne, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Tyler Haveron was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
Springville's record now sits at 7-2. As for Wasatch, they moved to 3-7 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Wasatch hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Springville struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Wasatch might still be hurting after the 8-0 defeat they got from Springville when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Wasatch avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
