Baseball Recap: Filer Drops Highest Score of Season Against Teton

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Filer). They blew past the Teton Timberwolves 19-8 on Saturday. The victory was nothing new for the Wildcats as they're now sitting on three straight.

Drayson Smith made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off six hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Filer got a massive performance out of Aydyn Burns, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Burns has become a key player for the Wildcats: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 3-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Hyde Bangerter, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Filer was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .514. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.

Filer now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Teton, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Looking ahead, Filer will be playing at home against Buhl at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Teton, they will head out on the road to take on Declo at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Hornets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.86 runs per game on average), something the Timberwolves will no doubt try to take advantage of.
