The Guyer Wildcats will face off against the Coppell Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Thursday, everything came up roses for Guyer on the road against Rock Hill as the team secured a 42-14 win. Given Guyer's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 20th, while Rock Hill is ranked 166th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ahmed Yussuf was the offensive standout of the matchup as he rushed for 97 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries.
Meanwhile, Coppell put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They didn't even let Plano onto the board and left with a 44-0 win.
Guyer has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Coppell, their win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0.
Everything came up roses for Guyer against Coppell when the teams last played back in December of 2020 as the squad secured a 52-24 victory. Does Guyer have another victory up their sleeve, or will Coppell turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
