The Toombs County Bulldogs and the Rockmart Yellowjackets squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Toombs County Bulldogs had to settle for second. They suffered a tough 45-21 loss at the hands of the Yellowjackets. Toombs County's loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tj Stanley, who threw for 333 yards and three touchdowns. Keshon Deloach also helped out as he racked up 128 receiving yards.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rockmart to victory, but perhaps none more so than Calliyon Thompson, who rushed for 55 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 204 yards and two touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes. Rockmart also got a significant boost from Brent Washington, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 101 yards.
Toombs County's defeat dropped their record down to 11-2. As for Rockmart, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2.
Toombs County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Rockmart will play host again and welcome Cook, where kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams have allowed few points on average, (Cook: 14.5, Rockmart: 12) so any points scored will be well earned.
