Holly has gone 8-2 against Eads recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. Holly will head out on the road to challenge Eads at 4:00 p.m. Holly has given up an average of 13.8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Holly is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They lost 14-4 to Crowley County. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Wildcats have suffered against the Chargers since March 29, 2016.
Jerry Holdren made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Francisco Saenz also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Eads had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Manzanola an 18-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Bobcats recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Case Nelson and Adyn Hough made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Nelson struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Hough pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. At bat, Nelson scored a run while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances, while Hough scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4. That's the most runs Hough has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Stockton Mitchek, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Spencer Uhland, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Holly's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Eads, their record now sits at 1-0.
Holly might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Eads in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can Holly avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
