The Catholic Central Crusaders will take on the Wheeling Central Catholic Maroon Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Catholic Central turned things around against Wellsville on Saturday. They blew past the Tigers 24-2. The Crusaders' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Tommy Symington and Joseph Vranish made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Symington pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Vranish struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2025. At the plate, Symington got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs, while Vranish went a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI and one double. Those RBI marked the first that Vranish has brought in this season.
In other batting news, Matthew Jones was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Michael Fabbro, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI.
Catholic Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Wheeling Central Catholic put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Saturday. They never let Barnesville get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory. The Maroon Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.
Wheeling Central Catholic's win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Catholic Central, the victory was their first on the road, bumping their record up to 2-7.
Catholic Central suffered a grim 13-7 defeat to Wheeling Central Catholic in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Crusaders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
