While the Davis Sr. Blue Devils couldn't quite beat the Franklin Wildcats on Friday, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 28-point defeat they were dealt last Wednesday. Davis Sr. fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 47-45. While losing is never fun, Davis Sr. can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 494th, while the Wildcats are ranked 96th).
Defeat or not, Davis Sr. got some senior leadership from Aidan Crawford and Jadyn Coaker. Crawford scored 17 points along with six rebounds, while Coaker. scored 16 points.
Davis Sr. struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Franklin found their leader in underclassman Aiden Rollins, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Gregory Piotrowski, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.
Davis Sr. has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season. As for Franklin, their win bumped their record up to 20-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Davis Sr. will challenge the Marauders at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Jesuit will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak. As for Franklin, they will head out on the road to take on the Wolfpack at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Cosumnes Oaks and the Wildcats are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
