The Tucson High Magnet School Badgers will take on the Corona del Sol Aztecs at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Tucson High Magnet School has four straight wins, Corona del Sol has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Thursday, Tucson High Magnet School had just enough and edged out Marana 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Badgers have posted against the Tigers since April 13, 2023.

Evannie Flores spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Tucson High Magnet School saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sofia Trejo, who went 1-for-2 with two runs. Another was Adreana Hernandez, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Tucson High Magnet School hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marana struck out ten times.
Meanwhile, Corona del Sol lost 18-2 to Desert Vista on Thursday.
Tucson High Magnet School's win bumped their record up to 18-8. As for Corona del Sol, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-11.
Corona del Sol's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Tucson High Magnet School has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.7 hits per game. It's a different story for Corona del Sol, though, as they've been averaging 9 hits. Given Tucson High Magnet School's sizable advantage in that area, the Aztecs will need to find a way to close that gap.
Tucson High Magnet School came out on top in a nail-biter against Corona del Sol in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, sneaking past 6-5. Will the Badgers repeat their success, or do the Aztecs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
