The Hilltop Lancers''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They fell 23-14 to Montgomery. Hilltop has struggled against Montgomery recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Hilltop's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Nick Moore, who picked up 65 receiving yards and a touchdown, and Rio Nava who picked up 77 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Andie Deanda had an outrageously good game for Montgomery as he rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, and also threw for 219 yards and two touchdowns. Deanda's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards. Montgomery also got help from Aerek Brown who showed off his sure hands for 92 receiving yards.
Montgomery's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Mike Mohr and his two sacks.
Hilltop's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Montgomery, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hilltop will take on Sweetwater at 6:30 p.m. on October 27th. Sweetwater is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Montgomery, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Olympian at 6:30 p.m. on October 27th.
