It was a good run, but the Dougherty Trojans unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 53-45 to Toombs County. Dougherty found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post seven fewer assists than your opponent.
Several Trojans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaion Burns, who scored 15 points along with 4 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Markelle Jones, who scored 13 points along with 6 rebounds.
Toombs County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Dominic Eason out in front who scored 19 points. The match was Eason's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Parker Stanley, who scored 11 points along with 6 rebounds.
Dougherty's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Toombs County, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dougherty will take on Westover at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Toombs County, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Dublin at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Dublin focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday.
