The Santa Clara Saints's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against St. Bonaventure, falling 88-48. While losing is never fun, Santa Clara can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 813th, while the Seraphs are ranked 223rd).
Despite the loss, Santa Clara still got an impressive performance from JD Pettit, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Andy Pimentel, who scored six points.
St. Bonaventure's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Isaiah Marin, who scored 17 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Marin has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Mathew Wilson, who scored 17 points along with four steals.
Santa Clara has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-16 record this season. As for St. Bonaventure, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 20-8.
Santa Clara does not have any more games scheduled as of now. St. Bonaventure will be playing at home against the Sentinels at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
