The SA Roosevelt Rough Riders will head out on the road to challenge the Churchill Chargers at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in SA Roosevelt's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four games.
SA Roosevelt pushed their score all the way to 57 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Johnson by a score of 60-57. SA Roosevelt has struggled against Johnson recently, as their contest on Wednesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
SA Roosevelt's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jordan Thomas, who scored 19 points along with two steals, and Yarin White who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds and two steals. Thomas has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jensen Rentas-gonzalez, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, even though Johnson scored an imposing 69 points on Saturday, Churchill still came out on top. Churchill escaped with a win against Johnson by the margin of a single free throw, 70-69.
SA Roosevelt's defeat dropped their record down to 11-18. As for Churchill, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-15.
SA Roosevelt ended up a good deal behind Churchill in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, losing 51-37. Can SA Roosevelt avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
