It's playoff time, and Rabun County had no trouble coming through when it counted. They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 35-0 victory over the Berrien Rebels. Considering the Wildcats have won seven contests by more than 26 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Rabun County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reid Giles, who rushed for 175 yards and one score on only 13 carries, and also picked up 37 receiving yards. Giles also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making four total tackles and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception. Rabun County also got a significant boost from Lake Evans, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 112 yards.
Rabun County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Giles and Reed Burrell. Another thorn in Berrien's side was Jakaden Fruster, who picked up two sacks and made six total tackles.
The victory was the third in a row for Rabun County, bringing their record up to 10-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.7 points over those games. As for Berrien, they dropped their record down to 4-8 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Looking ahead, Rabun County will square off against Pepperell at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Berrien does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
