In what's become a running theme this season, the United Longhorns gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They blew past Del Rio, posting a 87-39 victory at home. Given United's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while the Rams are ranked 828th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jesslynn Jalomo continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 29 points along with six assists and four steals. She hasn't dropped below 16 points for 12 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Aide Figueroa, who scored 19 points along with three steals.
United has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 24-9 record this season. As for Del Rio, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-20 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. United will face off against the Wolves at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Laredo LBJ is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Del Rio, they will head out on the road to face off against the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Alexander's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four games.
