The Woonsocket Villa Novans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They took a hard 64-48 fall against East Providence. Woonsocket has struggled against East Providence recently, as their contest on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Villa Novans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Angel Hernandez, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Kelly, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
Even though they lost, Woonsocket smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. This was only their ninth loss (out of 12 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Woonsocket's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-12. As for East Providence, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Woonsocket will head out on the road to face off against Narragansett at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Rhode Island (Narragansett is ranked 28th, while Woonsocket is ranked 36th). As for East Providence, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Classical at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Classical's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
