Wise has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against The Northwestern Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Northwestern took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Wise, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, Wise never let their opponents score. They blew past Bowie 45-0 at home. The result was nothing new for Wise, who have now won five contests by 45 points or more so far this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wise to victory, but perhaps none more so than DeCarlos Young, who rushed for 177 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. Young's longest rush was for an incredible 74 yards. Peyton Nelson also helped out as he racked up 100 rushing yards.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Northwestern, who are still winless after their eighth contest. The matchup between Northwestern and Laurel wasn't particularly close, with Northwestern falling 18-0.
Wise's win was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-1. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 7-1 Flowers and 6-2 Eleanor Roosevelt (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 61.1% over those games). As for Northwestern, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.
Everything came up roses for Wise against Northwestern in their previous meeting back in September of 2022 as the squad secured a 57-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wise since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
