Baseball Recap: Welch Comes Up Short

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Welch and Colcord, and Welch kept the tradition alive. The Welch Wildcats came up short against the Colcord Hornets on Monday, falling 20-10. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Hornets: they've now lost three in a row.

Mason Clinton was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Max Etzel, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Welch's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Welch will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Wyandotte at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Colcord, they will take on Bluejacket at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
