Make it 11 blowout wins for the McClintock Chargers this season. They claimed a resounding 58-21 win over Sierra Linda on the road. Given McClintock's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while Sierra Linda is ranked 262nd), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.
McClintock was led to victory by Niya Gamble and Lamaiya Woodberry. Gamble dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds, while Woodberry scored 21 points along with three steals. Woodberry has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Malani Reynoso, who scored seven points.
Sierra Linda's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Amairany Meza, who scored five points along with seven rebounds, and Mariana Mathis who scored two points.
McClintock has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. As for Sierra Linda, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-19.
