Basketball Recap: Beachside Comes Up Short

The Beachside Barracudas came up short against the Christ's Church Academy Eagles on Monday and fell 62-51.

When it comes to explaining why Beachside lost, don't look at Sammy Oliver. Despite the final result, he went 8-for-12 en route to 23 points. The game was Oliver's third in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeevan Iyengar, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 13 points.

Christ's Church Academy was led to victory by Aiden Simms and Michael Jativa. Simms dropped a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds, while Jativa went 9-for-16 to rack up 24 points. Thanks to that strong game, Jativa now owns an excellent 45.1% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Jackson Olson, who posted seven points and ten boards.

Beachside's loss dropped their record down to 1-2. As for Christ's Church Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Looking ahead, Beachside is taking a road trip to face off against Bolles at 7:30 p.m. on December 2. As for Christ's Church Academy, they will be playing at home against Covenant School of Jacksonville at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
