The Meade Mustangs entered their tilt with the Northeast Eagles with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Meade came out on top in a nail-biter against Northeast on Friday and snuck past 61-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Ashton Turman was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with five assists. Those 24 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaisean Kenner, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds.
Meade's win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.6 points per game. As for Northeast, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-1.
Meade will finish 2023 at home by hosting Francis Scott Key at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Francis Scott Key will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 260th, while Meade is ranked 37th). Northeast will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Dulaney at 5:15 p.m. on December 27th. Dulaney is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
