Belmont and Alcorn Central squared off in some playoff action  on Thursday, but Belmont had to settle for second. They came up short against  the Bears, falling  3-0. The Cardinals' defeat signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.
 While Belmont was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-23,  25-20.
 Among those leading the charge was   Maddi Marlar, who  had 14  digs and two  aces. That's the most  digs  she has posted since back in September.
Belmont's loss dropped their record down to 22-15. As for Alcorn Central, the  win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 23-14-1.
 Belmont does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Alcorn Central, they will take on Kossuth at 6:00  p.m.  on Monday.
