The Eastern Randolph Wildcats were the 58-50 winner over the Williams Bulldogs when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Eastern Randolph received a tough blow on Tuesday as they fell 55-41 to Williams. Eastern Randolph has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Eastern Randolph had strong showings from Kenly Whitaker, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Ziera Watson, who scored 12 points along with 4 steals. Whitaker scored a full 36.6% of Eastern Randolph's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Callie Craven was another key contributor, scoring 7 points.
Leading Williams to victory were Jordyn Taylor and Regan Averett. Taylor scored 12 points along with 9 rebounds and 4 steals, while Averett scored 16 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Taylor is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Amira Lunsford, who scored 7 points along with 6 rebounds.
Eastern Randolph's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Williams, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Eastern Randolph will head out on the road to face off against Southern Lee at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Southern Lee comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Williams, they will be playing at home against Northeast Guilford at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
