Jacek Smogoleski was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jack McCormick, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Mohave Accelerated's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-6 when he doesn't).
Meanwhile, Glendale Prep Academy waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 13-7 margin over the Lions. Considering the Griffins have won five games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Mohave Accelerated, Glendale Prep Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Eran Maxson. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Maxson was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs.
Glendale Prep Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.
Mohave Accelerated now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Glendale Prep Academy, their win bumped their record up to 9-3.
Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Mohave Accelerated has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .492. However, it's not like Glendale Prep Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .471. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mohave Accelerated suffered a grim 21-0 defeat to Glendale Prep Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Will the Patriots have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
