Minersville's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shazier Bethea, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards. Bethea's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dante Carr, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 19 points and four steals.
Meanwhile, Pottsville didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Tamaqua on Monday, but they still walked away with a 64-59 win.
Pottsville's win came from a few key players Minersville will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Christian Alvarez, who made all 6 shots he took racking up 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Letrel Montone, who made all 6 shots he took racking up 15 points.
Minersville pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.5 points per game. As for Pottsville, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Minersville and Pottsville are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Minersville hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 56.3 points per game. However, it's not like Pottsville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 61.7 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Minersville took a serious blow against Pottsville in their previous matchup back in January of 2018, falling 73-40. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Minersville was down 42-16.
