The Childress Bobcats were the 53-48 winner over the Canadian Wildcats when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. Childress' rough 45-25 defeat to Canadian on Thursday might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Childress can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 667th, while Canadian is ranked 221st).
Despite the loss, Childress still got an impressive performance from Clarissa Gamboa, who scored 8 points along with 4 steals. Gamboa has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.
Childress has fallen quite a ways from their 21-6 record last season and are now at 3-7. As for Canadian, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-2.
Childress' road trip will continue as they head out to face Nazareth at 10:20 a.m. on December 1st. Canadian will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Clarendon at 6:30 p.m. on December 15th.
