The Borrego Springs Rams will face off against the High Tech NC Raptor at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Borrego Springs is coming into the game hot, having won their last 11 games.
Borrego Springs is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Ocean View Christian as they made off with a 13-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Joey Rocha made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on AB Arambula, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Jordyn Navarro was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, High Tech NC didn't have quite enough to beat Vincent Memorial on Wednesday and fell 5-3.
High Tech NC saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Xavier Salvatore, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Borrego Springs pushed their record up to 14-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for High Tech NC, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-4.
Both Borrego Springs and High Tech NC just can't seem to miss. The Rams have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. However, it's not like High Tech NC struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.7 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Borrego Springs took their win against High Tech NC in their previous matchup back in April of 2017 by a conclusive 23-4 score. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Raptor have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
