Even though the Venice Indians scored an imposing 61 points on Monday, the Bayshore Bruins still came out on top. Bayshore narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Venice 64-61. The victory was all the more spectacular given Bayshore's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 334th, while Venice is ranked 166th).
Bayshore's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Demetrios Kimon, who scored 18 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds. The matchup was Kimon's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Antonio Romo, who scored 16 points along with 7 rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Bayshore and bumps their season record up to 3-2. As for Venice, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 3-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bayshore will challenge Southeast at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Venice won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Lakewood Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on December 5th. Hopefully Lakewood Ranch focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday.
