Softball Recap: Meadowdale Has No Trouble Against Lynnwood

While Meadowdale put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Lynnwood. The Mavericks blew past the Royals 17-0. The result was nothing new for the Mavericks, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Payton Aldridge was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Madison Mitchell was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Martens, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Meadowdale was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win made it two in a row for Meadowdale and bumps their season record up to 7-9. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Lynnwood, their defeat was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-15.

Coming up, Meadowdale will square off against Shorecrest at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Mavericks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Scots have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. As for Lynnwood, they will take on Mariner at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Marauders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.55 runs per game on average), something the Royals will no doubt try to take advantage of.
