We've got a battle between Eagles coming up. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.
Salesian not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 5, 2024. They put the hurt on Morris with a sharp 17-6 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.
Salesian got a massive performance out of Kristopher Paredez, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Amir Inoa, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.
Meanwhile, St. Peter waltzed into their match on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Lions get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by seven runs or more this season.
Justin Levine made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Freddie Avitto looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.
Levine wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ayden Rosario, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Joseph Napoli was another, scoring a run and stealing two bases.
St. Peter's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Salesian, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Salesian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like St. Peter's struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Salesian might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from St. Peter's when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will Salesian have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
