Softball Recap: Waynesburg Central Wins Going Away Against Washington

Waynesburg Central won the last time they faced Washington and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Raiders blew past the Prexies 11-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Raiders.

Gina Tedrow made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Kylee Schaum was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Bre Kerr, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Waynesburg Central's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Washington, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waynesburg Central will host California at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Trojans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.88 runs per game on average), something the Raiders will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Washington, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Frazier at 3:00 p.m.
