The South Medford Panthers entered their tilt with the South Eugene Axe with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. South Medford came out on top against the Axe by a score of 70-60 on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
South Eugene lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Levi Hawes, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds. Hawes hasn't dropped below 15 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Saunders, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
South Medford pushed their record up to 12-6 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.8 points per game. As for South Eugene, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-10.
South Medford will head out on the road to challenge the Irish at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. As for South Eugene, they will be playing at home against the Black Tornado at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully North Medford focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday.
