Nobody — male or female — is getting buckets like Whitney Creech right now.

The Jenkins (Ky.) senior guard scored 64 points Thursday night to become the seventh girl in high school basketball history to surpass 5,000 career points, according to records compiled by MaxPreps writer and historian Kevin Askeland.

Creech, a 5-foot-9 senior guard headed to Western Kentucky, became Kentucky's all-time leading scorer on Tuesday by piling up a career-high 71 points to bring her career total to 4,957.

That meant she needed 43 Thursday against Perry County Central — a manageable number when you are averaging 50.9 points per game.

Creech has gone over 60 points six times this season for the Cavaliers (11-12). According to Askeland, she is easily high school basketball's active career leader in points – boys or girls.
