Fort Morgan's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nadalie Ramos, who had 20 digs. Ramos is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ally Sailsbery, who had 15 digs and two aces.
Fort Morgan was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Sterling got the win against Frontier Academy on Thursday by a conclusive 3-0.
The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Sterling was: they took every set by at least ten points. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-13, 25-10.
Fort Morgan better keep an eye on Kylie Gerk. She was instrumental in Sterling's win, getting five digs and three aces. Those three aces gave Gerk a new career-high. Elliana Pelton also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.
Sterling's win bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Fort Morgan, their victory bumped their record up to 6-10.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's match: Fort Morgan has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 6.9 aces per game. However, it's not like Sterling struggles in that department as they've been averaging 11.5 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
