Basketball Recap: Covenant Classical's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Covenant Classical lost against Abilene Christian on January 7th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Covenant Classical Cavaliers took a 73-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Abilene Christian Panthers. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (57), the Cavaliers still had to take the loss.

Covenant Classical lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ellis Mitchell, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds. That's the most boards Mitchell has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jack Mohon, who posted 11 points and four steals.

The loss snapped Covenant Classical's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 14-10 record. As for Abilene Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season.

Covenant Classical will head out to face off against Fellowship Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Covenant Classical has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games. Abilene Christian has already played their next matchup (against Christian Life Preparatory), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
