If the Raleigh Charter Phoenix were riding high off their 50-17 takedown of the Woods Charter Wolves last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Raleigh Charter fell 45-36 to Princeton on Wednesday. If Raleigh Charter hoped to take revenge for the 59-30 loss against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Princeton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Aubrey Johnson out in front who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johnson has scored all season. Meredith Bell was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with four steals.
Raleigh Charter has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Princeton, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Raleigh Charter on the road again on Tuesday and play against Falls Lake at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. Falls Lake is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Princeton, they will head out on the road to face off against Eastern Wayne at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Eastern Wayne's defense has only allowed 29.9 points per game this season, so Princeton's offense will have their work cut out for them.
