Basketball Recap: Leadership Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Emory Maxwell and Briana Ramirez

Leadership Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 46-31 to the College Prep & Leadership Academy Royals. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Royals apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Leadership Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Briana Ramirez, who posted ten points, and Emory Maxwell, who put up four points. The dominant performance gave Ramirez a new career-high in points.

College Prep & Leadership Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alexis Holmes led the charge by putting up nine points and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of MacKenzie Dumbuya, who earned 11 points.

Leadership Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-14. As for College Prep & Leadership Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.

When Leadership Academy and College Prep & Leadership Academy next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Leadership Academy will square off against Carver and their three-game winning streak at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, College Prep & Leadership Academy will try to stop Bishop McGuinness' 17-game winning streak when the meet at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
