Meanwhile, Forest Area's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Mancelona at home and fell 65-12. While losing is never fun, Forest Area can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 688th, while Mancelona is ranked 189th).
St. Mary Cathedral's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Forest Area, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.
St. Mary Cathedral beat Forest Area 54-44 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Mary Cathedral since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
