Basketball Recap: Piute Takes a Loss

After flying high against Bryce Valley on Wednesday, Piute came back down to earth. The Thunderbirds fell just short of the Gunnison Valley Bulldogs by a score of 54-52 on Friday. The Thunderbirds were up 32-18 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

With the defeat, Piute broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-5. As for Gunnison Valley, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Piute and Gunnison Valley will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Thunderbirds see the court they'll take on Green River at 4:00 p.m. on January 2, 2026. As for Gunnison Valley, their break will end when they face Panguitch at 7:00 p.m. on the 30th.
