Even though the Bandys Trojans have not done well against the Newton-Conover Red Devils recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Bandys came out on top against Newton-Conover by a score of 49-37. For Bandys, this counts as revenge for the 62-20 defeat Newton-Conover walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Rachel Anderson was her usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with six steals and five assists. She is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last three games she's played. Lexi Vaughan was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with four steals.
Newton-Conover's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hadleigh Swagger, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Barnes, who scored six points.
Bandys' win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Newton-Conover, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.
Bandys will head out on the road to take on West Caldwell at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. West Caldwell is out to stop a seven-game streak of losses at home. Newton-Conover will take on Bunker Hill at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Bunker Hill has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 15.
